Integration or security?

On 8th may 2017, during the first section of work of the council, EU ministers presented their positions about the topic of the day: political asylum and the situation of asylum seekers.

All of ministers want and search a common solution with the others; collaboration was the key word of the day. A common sense of unity is not enough to solve the problem, because of the different points of views of the single member states. Each member wants the better solution, but in according to their own internal condition. Some of ministers focused on the problem of security and believes in the relevance of the borders control.

About this, the Slovenia’s position is clear: security at the first place. Minister said that they want to recognize the seekers and be sure about their precedents, they want to recognize them with passport and all documents useful for the registration. Slovakia debated on the same things, it would close its borders for Muslim and it is not so inclined to open its door. Also Poland has a reluctance for refugees, it does not want to modify its kind of democracy; there were also some anti-refugees march. Latvia wants also to solve the problem of illegal migrants. In the other hand, countries as The Netherlands, with its EU wide policy, has a clear and, of course open, approach to seekers. German minister in the debate declared the position of the country, focusing on the fact that the country wants to defend freedom, open its door and also facilitate the integration. On the same position there is Finland; the minister of this country,  Gina Del Sorbo, declared that the country wants to support the integration of asylum seekers with the Finnish population, creating an association based on the education for this people.
